LE LUNE - This property is strategically located in the centre of a triangle providing easy access to the Regions of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio. The estate covers 40 hectares, primarily composed of woodlands, and sits on a hill in a panoramic position. Access is from a dirt road. Allerona, with basic shops and necessities is at 3.5 kms. Allerona Scalo at 8 kms has a COOP supermarket. Fabro is at 14 kms with entrance to the Autostrada A1 (guests arriving from the north will be exiting there) and it offers shops, restaurants and all facilities. There is a wonderful castle in the centre of Fabro, worth visiting. Guests arriving from the south will be exiting the Autostrada A1 in Orvieto, which is 20 kms away, while the centre of Orvieto is at about 18 kms from the estate and it offers train station and all shops, restaurants and facilities. The thermal spa of San Casciano dei Bagni is at 12 kms, Lake Bolsena with free beaches and Città della Pieve are equidistant at 25 kms. The Val d’Orcia with its ancient towns such as Pienza is at 40 kms, as is Montepulciano. Perugia is at 65 kms, Assisi is at 90 kms, while Siena, Roma and Spoleto are at 100 kms and Firenze is at 130 kms. The nearest airport is Roma’s Leonardo da Vinci airport at Fiumicino (130 kms). The ferryboat port of Civitavecchia is at 100 kms with connections to Sardinia and other Italian islands. The sandy beaches are at Montalto di Castro at 90 kms, while the coasts of the Argentario peninsula are at 120 kms. The main structure of the estate is divided into 4 apartments, one of which is used by the owners, descendants of a noble Siennese family. Apartments Luna Rossa and Luna Verde are at ground floor, while Luna Azzurra is on the first floor. On an elevated ridge near the structure and offering a 280° view over the surrounding countryside is the terrace with swimming pool (6 x 12 meters, 1.50 meters deep). The pool and furnished terrace are for shared use and next to the pool is a low farm building with a long covered terrace that is also furnished and lunches and dinners can be organised there for the guests. The ridge is reached by very wide, easy to climb steps set into the hillside. There is a laundry room with external access in the main structure (washing machine use including detergent is charged at Euros 5 per load). The apartments offer mosquito screens on the windows, national TV, a barbecue for common use, and central heating that is charged at Euros 10 per day if required during heating season. The apartments are simply but comfortably furnished and boast cotto or parquet floors and ceilings with wood beams and cotto tiles.
