The views from the property extend past the scattered hamlet houses and over the soft hills of the Chianti Fiorentino. The barn itself is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.
Not far from the property is the church of Santo Stefano a Campoli. Mercatale Val di Pesa is at 2 kms and offers all shops, facilities and a stable that with horses for hire. San Casciano at 8 kms has public swimming pool with tennis courts and gym. Greve in Chianti is at 12 kms, Firenze at 20 kms, Siena at 40 kms, and the Golf Club of Ugolino is at 15 kms.
Le Rostre, which was completely restored in 2007, is part of a small agricultural estate that produces wine and olive oil and the owner is a wonderful cook. If booked well in advance, she is more than happy to prepare meals for her guests. The area is also full of fine quality restaurants and the owner can help you choose the best ones.
Main entrance to Le Rostre is from its private, furnished garden area that overlooks an olive grove. There is a tool shed visible that is past the garden itself. Up one step is the private entrance into the kitchen/dining room with an antique and beautiful sofa on the right of the room. The kitchen occupies another side of the room and is fully equipped with gas range, ventilated oven, small fridge with freezer set into the counter, and a beautiful Carrara marble sink. The kitchen is well-equipped with kitchen robots: toaster, American-style coffee machine, etc.
Across the kitchen is the dining area and here is where the raised fireplace is located that also has an open side in the living room. Next to the fireplace and up three steps through an open passage that can be closed by drawing a heavy curtain to provide privacy, is the living room with double sofa bed. The side of the fireplace facing the living room is done in stone.
A short hall leads from the living room to the beautiful bathroom done in cotto and stone that is complete with shower stall and window. On the left of the hall, through a beautiful antique door from the Lucca region that dates back to the 700’s, up three steps is the spacious double bedroom. The bed can be separated into twins if requested at time of booking. The bedroom has panoramic glass doors that open onto the rear of the house.
Le Rostre is charming and luminous with a wonderful combination of original antiques and modern rustic pieces. The floors are done using different materials: cotto tiles, ceramics and stone, providing an interesting combination. Some of the walls have stone on sight interspersed with the original bricks. Wood beamed ceilings add the final typical Tuscan touch. All the finishings were done with valuable materials and great care. The house has central gas heating and gas is payable on consumption during heating season together with firewood. There is a baby cot, and two bicycles can be rented directly from the owner.
